A Ukrainian farmer from the settlement of Olyshivka, a city near Kyiv, has listed three Russian tanks as NFTs on OpenSea. However, this isn’t your ordinary NFT promo. As if the non-fungible aspect wasn’t enough to attract attention, the farmer has also listed the sale of the actual tanks themselves.
The Russian tank NFTs are being sold at a floor price of 150 ETH. At the time of writing, one Ethereum is worth roughly $2,900 which puts a price tag of approximately $700,000 on the more expensive unit. Those interested in buying these NFTs would essentially be official owners of a T-64BV, T-72A, or a T-80U soviet battle tank.
In addition, each owner is responsible for transporting the tanks themselves. The coordinates of each tank’s location and retrieval instructions are available as secret tags, in which only the owners will be able to see once the NFTs are purchased.
The trailblazing OpenSea seller “A_Tammepuu” has no identity, but he did thoughtfully provide the public with an unverifiable picture of himself. In bold text laid out on his NFT marketplace account, the profile states:
“Experience owning your own Russian tank! (and support Ukrainian ‘argiculture’ in the process)”
The only confirmable information we get from our cryptic NFT seller is that he funded his Ethereum address as a miner.
As to how the farmer acquired these Russian tanks, he claims that they were “ethically sourced.” In other words, they were abandoned. He states in his profile that “no crew was hurt in the process.”
The farmer seems to appease some expectant concerns from interested buyers, affirming that the insides of the tanks remain clean, and most of the equipment can still be found inside. For added solace, the tanks are not haunted.
The earnings made from the sales will go towards reconstructing Ukraine’s agriculture after the war is over.
“Russian army has damaged a lot of expensive farming equipment in our community, which is necessary to supply Ukrainian homes with our homegrown crops,” the seller claims.
He went on to say that his number one priority is to get him and his family out of the conflict zone safely, and because of that, these three Russian tank NFTs will be the only ones in the collection.
The selling price of each tank is as follows:
- T-64BV (150 Eth)
- T-72A (200 Eth)
- T-80U (250 Eth)
According to each tank’s profile description, the T-64BV has been allegedly placed next to a pile of logs, covered with branches and sticks. No ammo was found.
The T-72A is hidden under a pile of garbage in a ruined place where one roof is still intact. The tank has some ammo for the MG and the main turret, and it has the “z” symbol on the front.
The T-80U tank is hidden inside a mound in a “soviet-era ammo storage facility tunnel,” and it has subsequently been covered with bush and cut-down trees. It also contains the “z” symbol on the front. The seller says this one will be extremely hard to find.
So far the only offer that has been made is an expired offer made for 0.25 Eth for the T-80U.
For anyone wanting to get their hands on one of these Russian tank NFTs, you may want to hurry. The sale ends April 29, 2022.
